Bhai, jab tak camera ke manual controls samajh mein nahi aate, tab tak koi bhi expensive camera ya lens tumhare footage ko cinematic nahi bana sakta. Is guide mein hum exposure triangle se lekar composition tak sab cover karenge โ€” step by step.

Exposure Triangle: Foundation of Everything

Har exposure decision teen cheezon ka balance hota hai โ€” ISO, Aperture, aur Shutter Speed. Teeno mil kar decide karte hain ki final image kitni bright ya dark hogi, aur har ek ka apna creative side-effect bhi hota hai.

ISO

Sensor sensitivity. Noise control karta hai.

Aperture

Lens opening. Depth of field control karta hai.

Shutter Speed

Exposure time. Motion blur control karta hai.

1. ISO โ€” Sensor Sensitivity

ISO camera sensor ke signal ko electronically "boost" karta hai. Jitna higher ISO, utni brighter image low-light mein milegi โ€” but iski cost hoti hai: noise/grain badhta hai aur dynamic range kam hota hai.

Native ISO samjho: Har sensor ka ek "native" ISO hota hai (jaise 800 ya 1600 cinema cameras mein) jahan sensor cleanest signal deta hai bina extra amplification ke. Native ISO se jitna door jaoge, utna zyada noise dikhega โ€” chahe upar jaao ya bahut neeche.

2. Aperture โ€” Depth of Field Control

Aperture lens ke andar ek opening hai jo light ko control karta hai. f-stop scale counterintuitive hai โ€” chhota number = zyada wide opening = zyada light + shallow depth of field (blurry background).

F-STOP SCALE
f/1.4f/2f/2.8f/4f/5.6f/8f/11f/16f/22

โ† Wide (blurry bg, more light)     Narrow (sharp bg, less light) โ†’

Diffraction warning: Bahut narrow aperture (f/16, f/22) pe image thodi soft ho jaati hai โ€” isse "diffraction" kehte hain. Zyada tar lenses apni sharpest quality f/4 se f/8 ke beech dete hain โ€” isse "sweet spot" kehte hain.

3. Shutter Speed โ€” The 180-Degree Rule

Video mein shutter speed sirf exposure control nahi karta โ€” motion blur ka natural feel bhi decide karta hai. Cinema industry ek simple rule follow karti hai: shutter speed = frame rate x 2.

Frame RateIdeal Shutter Speed (180ยฐ)
24fps1/48 (practically 1/50)
25fps1/50
30fps1/60
60fps (slow-mo)1/120

Is rule ko todne se do effects milte hain: faster shutter (jaise 1/1000) se motion strobe-y, harsh, "war footage" jaisa lagta hai. Slower shutter (jaise 1/24) se motion smeary, dreamy but shaky-feeling ban jaata hai. Dono creative choices hain, but 180-degree rule "safe default" hai.

ND Filters โ€” Bright Daylight Ka Solution

Problem yeh hai: bright din mein agar tum 180-degree shutter rule follow karo (jaise 1/50) aur wide aperture bhi rakhna chaho (f/2.8 shallow depth of field ke liye), toh image massively overexposed ho jaayegi. Solution โ€” ND (Neutral Density) filter, jo bina color affect kiye sirf light kam karta hai lens mein aane se pehle.

White Balance โ€” Color Temperature

White balance decide karta hai ki camera "white" ko kaise interpret karega โ€” yeh Kelvin (K) scale mein measure hota hai. Galat white balance se footage ya toh bahut orange (warm) ya bahut blue (cool) dikhta hai.

COLOR TEMPERATURE SCALE (KELVIN)
1900K (Candlelight)3200K (Tungsten)5600K (Daylight)7500K (Shade/Overcast)
Pro tip: Auto White Balance (AWB) shot-to-shot mein shift ho sakta hai jo editing mein color-matching headache banata hai. Manual Kelvin value lock karo, ya better โ€” grey card / color chart use karke custom white balance set karo shoot start karne se pehle.

Focus โ€” Manual vs Autofocus

Modern autofocus (Eye AF, subject tracking) bahut reliable ho gaya hai, but cinematic control ke liye manual focus zaroori hota hai โ€” especially rack focus shots ya jab specific composition control chahiye. Focus Peaking (colored outline sharp edges pe) aur Focus Magnification yeh do tools hain jo manual focus ko accurate banate hain.

Composition Basics

Quick Practice Checklist

  1. Native ISO pe shoot karo jab bhi possible ho
  2. 180-degree shutter rule follow karo (frame rate x 2)
  3. Bright light mein ND filter use karo, aperture compromise mat karo
  4. White balance manually set karo, auto pe mat chhodo
  5. Focus peaking on rakho critical shots ke liye
  6. Rule of thirds se shuru karo, phir break karna seekho

FAQs

180-degree shutter rule kya hai?

Yeh ek cinematography rule hai jisme shutter speed frame rate se double rakha jaata hai โ€” jaise 24fps pe 1/48 (ya practically 1/50) shutter โ€” taaki motion blur natural aur cinematic lage.

High ISO use karne se kya problem hoti hai?

High ISO sensor signal ko electronically boost karta hai, jisse image mein noise/grain badh jaata hai aur dynamic range kam ho jaata hai, especially native ISO se bahut upar jaane pe.

ND filter kyun zaroori hai video shooting mein?

Bright daylight mein 180-degree shutter rule follow karte hue aperture bhi wide rakhne ke liye ND filter chahiye hota hai, warna image overexposed ho jaayegi ya aperture bahut narrow karna padega jisse depth of field aur diffraction dono affect honge.
